DACHAU CONCENTRATION CAMP
Dachau was the first concentration camp and was established in 1933, only a few weeks after of Adolf Hitler becoming the fuhrer. Dachau operated for 12 years before it was liberated, it was estimated that 40,000 prisoners out of the 200,000 imprisoned at Dachau were murdered. Dachau was supposed to be used for politicial prisoners of the third Reich but ended up with inmates targeted by the Nazi party. During the holocaust Dachau was used as a forced labour camp and was also used for medical testing on prisoners. At Dachau there was only one gas chamber built in 1942, but was never used.
