PERSONAL STORIES- BETTY LEITER LAUCHHEIMER
Betty was born within a Religious Jewish family in 1883. she lived in southern west Germany and at age 20, Betty got married to Max Lauchheimer and soon later had 2 children. in 1933 Max and their son-in-law were arrested for being Jewish and taken away to Dachau Concentration camp. After being at Dachau for three weeks, Max and the son-in-law returned home Max soon after died of a heart attack but the son in law survived. Betty Had to wear a yellow star everywhere she went to show that she was a jew, and in 1941 Betty and her son in-law were captured and Betty was deported to Latvia in the Rumbula Forest and was the shot in a mass execution of Jews.
